Phyllis M. Twomey

Born in Lynn, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Ross and Agnes (McCarthy) Ringer. She graduated from St. Mary’s Girls High School.

Phyllis is a retired counselor who guided individuals and families who suffered from the disease of alcoholism until her retirement in 1989. She was a long time member of Al-Anon and friend of Bill and Lois W. for nearly 50 years. She loved being with her family, and had many interests -she was an avid reader, an expert knitter, and she loved crossword and other puzzles. She compiled many photograph albums of her loved ones. She loved watching sports and cheering for the Boston sports teams until the day she passed.

Phyllis is survived by her children; John G. Twomey and his wife Ann of RI, Claire T. Sabbagh of Ipswich, Michael R. Twomey and his wife Rene of MD, Kathleen M. Smialek and her husband Andrew of Salem, Matthew D. Twomey and his wife Mary of PA, Paula T. Gonzalez and her husband Rob of Peabody, and Mary E. Maguire and her husband Louis of Salem, NH. She was the loving Grandmother of 10. She was the sister of Sr. Miriam Ringer, CSJ of Weymouth and the late Bernice A. Hogan and her husband James, and the late Rita V. Ringer. Phyllis is survived by many cousins of the McCarthy and Curran families originally from Lynn. Also, Phyllis is survived by 3 nieces; Miriam Hogan, Christine Hogan and Rosemary Gaylord. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Phyllis’ Funeral will be held at the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St., Lynn, on Sat 9:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Visiting Hours Friday 3- 7 PM. Gifts in Phyllis’ memory may be made to Shore View Home for the Elderly @ 1 Atlantic Terrace, Lynn, MA 01902.
