

LYNN – Richard B. Campbell, age 78, beloved husband of the late Joan (McGhee) Campbell, died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at his home in Lynn. Born in Salem, son of the late W. Warren and Louise (Barry) Campbell, he lived in Lynn for the past 48 years.
Mr. Campbell was a graduate of St. Mary’s Boys High School, Lynn and graduated from Boston College, class of 1954, where he was a member of the golf team for two years. Richard served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, where he played golf for the 25th Division of Artillery for 18 months. He later worked for the Boston Globe in their automotive advertising department until his retirement in 1990.
Richard loved to golf; he was a past president of the Wenham Golf Club, and a member of Thomson Country Club. He was a member of the BC Golden Eagles, a group of Boston College alumni, and also enjoyed bowling.
Surviving him is his son, Richard W. Campbell of Lynn; his brother, Rev. William W. Campbell of Falmouth; his grandchildren, Annie and Billy Campbell; and many nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Miriam Chader.
Richard’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St., Lynn on Monday at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Pius V Church, Lynn at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Visiting hours Sunday from 2 to 6pm. Donations may be made in Richard’s memory to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
