

Born in Lynn, Dick was the son of the late Alexander and Catherine (Collins) Cronin. He attended Lynn Schools and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. He enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict.
Richard was appointed a Reserve Officer for the City of Lynn on May 21, 1960, received a commendation in January of 1962 and was appointed to regular duty on November 26, 1962. He retired as a Police Officer in 1991 after nearly 30 years of service to the City. He dedicated his life to many charitable organizations. As a 40 year member of the Knights of Pythias, he was the recipient of the Golden Spur, which is the highest award bestowed on any member.
He leaves 2 daughters, Joyce Brewster and her husband Steven and Cathy Ring and her husband John all of Lynn; 4 sons, Richard “Ted” Cronin, Robert Cronin and his wife Anne, Kevin Cronin and Stephen Cronin and his wife Judy all of Lynn. He was the loving Grandfather to Jennifer, Michelle, Jill, Jaclyn, Brian, Bobby, Kristen, Derek, Nicole, Leanne, Charles, Michael, and Jaime. He was the Great Grandfather to 16. Brother-In-Law to Lee Cronin of Lynn and Raymond Halliday and his wife Donna and Richard Halliday and his wife Vicky all of Florida. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Frank Cronin.
Richard’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Wednesday at 9:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Pius V Church at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8PM.
