Robert J. Connaughton, Jr., 76, of Lynn, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2024 following a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He is survived by his wife, Lynda (Irzyk) Connaughton, his son, Daniel Connaughton, his daughter, Marybeth Connaughton, his sister, Anne Connaughton-Swain, his brothers, Neil Connaughton and David Connaughton, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Michael Connaughton and his sister, Patricia Connaughton.
Bob graduated from Saugus High School, where he developed his lifelong passion for football. After graduating, he was recruited to play for the University of Prince Edward Island. It was while traveling home from school that he passed through, and fell in love with, the town of Rangeley, Maine, there he would build a house on the lake where he and his family would spend many golden days swimming, fishing, hiking and boating. After college, he went on to graduate from Suffolk University Law School, earning his Juris Doctorate. His work took him around the world, and he formed lifelong friendships with his classmates and coworkers, who, even decades on, went above and beyond to stay in touch with him, so impressed were they with his honesty and integrity.
Throughout the years, many sought Bob’s help and counsel. His intelligence, loyalty, and commitment to others, whether he’d known them for a day or a lifetime meant he was the one to turn to in a crisis, he took on others’ struggles as his own, working tirelessly until they were resolved.
Bob will be deeply missed, but forever loved, by his family, friends, and everyone he touched with his steadfastness and generosity.
