He was the loving brother of Janice Perates of Milton, MA, John and Debbie Perates of Peabody, Lisa Perates and her late husband, Thomas Perates of Peabody and Mike and Robin Perates of Haverhill.
Cherished uncle of Eleni Alexandrou, Deena Fodera, Johanna Perates, Marisa and Nick Perates, Joseph LeDonne, Caulin and Shaina Perates, and grand-uncle of Christopher and Portia Alexandrou.
He will be sadly missed by his dearest cousin, Charles Spyropoulos, along with his closest friends James Blatsos, Larry Noone, and Andy Lampros.
Bill was a life-long resident of Lynn and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. He went on to earn his teaching degrees from Salem State. He was a devoted teacher of special needs students in the Lynn Public School system. He also worked at Hogan Regional Center, various group homes on the North Shore, and GE in Wilmington, MA. Bill cherished his time spent with family and friends. He was an avid, life-long fan of the Boston/New England Patriots, so much so that he could not sleep for a week after the Patriot’s first Super Bowl win. He was not averse to expressing his strong dislike of the NY Giants. Bill enjoyed taking his younger brothers to Fenway Park and in July of 1969--during the Detroit Tigers game--the first Apollo moon landing had occurred. One of his prized possessions was his vintage Firebird. He was a fitness enthusiast at various gyms. Bill loved his long walks on the beach and could be seen on King’s Beach daily.
In accordance with the CDC, Mass., Department of Public Health, Archdiocese of Boston Guidelines and local restrictions on gathering and congregations due to COVID-19, all services will be held for immediate family privately.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to My Brother’s Table, 98 Willow Street, Lynn, MA 01901. http://www.mybrotherstable.org/
