Aaro Antero Karvonen, age 80 of Woodinville, Washington, our brother, uncle, and mentor reached his eternal home on December 4th, 2015, 27 days after his loving wife, Marcella (Marcy) Ann was called home.
He was one of nine children born to Kalle and Selma Karvonen on May 25th, 1935 in Posio, Finland. Aaro is survived by his siblings Lempi (& Tony Simon), Saima (&Karl Ojalehto), Rauha (& Ernie Hillukka), Raimo (& Riita Karvonen) and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcy, brother Mauno, sisters Sylvvi, Lyyli, and Hilja, nephews Antero, Norman, and Gregory, nieces Anita and Selma.
Aaro was a kind, sincere, and thoughtful man. While he was a great friend to each of us, he paid special attention to children. Always a personal greeting to the little ones and a gentle, loving rebuke when necessary.
Work was no stranger to Aaro. He helped with farm chores during his childhood in Finland. As a young man in Canada, he framed houses with his brother-in-law Veikko. In the states, he spent over 30 years behind the wheel of big rigs. First, for Shell Oil, then 20+ years driving truck for Safeway.
On April 1, 1972, Aaro married the love of his life, Marcella Ann in a double wedding ceremony with Rauha and Ernest Hillukka. Their 43 years of marriage came with many memories of their travels together and countless precious moments of visiting with their dear relatives and friends.
Aaro’s work here on Earth is now complete. May his example of serving others with diligence remain with us.
