Austin had the biggest, most beautiful smile and a personality that was infectious.    When he was younger he would come to Texas for the summer and stay with his Grandmother, Linda.  She would bring Austin to work with her at the nursing home everyday.  He was always so perfect and so darn cute!  He loved his Grandmother, his Father and the Malone side of his family.  We loved him!  He is in heaven now,  but he will always remain in our hearts and never ever be forgotten.  Rest in Peace Austin.

One day many years ago I met Austin, who was just 6 years old, out in the street where he was playing in our Lake Pointe neighborhood in Lake Stevens. 
I had just received a large load of dirt and was shoveling it into our yard from the street. 
Austin  came over to watch and get to know me and then seeing I was dirty and tired asked if he could help me shovel. He did just that, worked very hard and soon became as dirty as I was. 
I was very soon to meet Mireya who was looking  into what her son was doing and we became very close friends.
I witnessed their beautiful relationship in working and playing together.
I wish I had a photo of that day but will have to settle with the one which is in my heart.

You were a good dude at heart. Always knew how to light up a room during some of the stupidest times. We will miss you. The Army will miss you. Rest Easy brother.

How can I sum up a hundred memories before time passes and they grow all fuzzy? Before I start forgetting the scene and remembering just fragments; your laugh, your words, the general feeling of it all… It seems impossible. 

 I know time will pass, but to me you are fixed forever as you were at 22, at 16, at 10….How blessed I was to see it all and share so many precious memories with you in between! How blessed I was to know you and to love you and to call you my brother. 

Rest now. And know that we will miss you forever.

The task of penning a eulogy, of capturing the essence of someone who has passed, is both an honor and a challenge. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the persons life, share cherished memories, and to start healing from the loss. However, the challenge becomes even more poignant when I have to eulogize someone from the younger generation—my nephew.

For those who do not know me, I am Vianey, Austins favorite Aunt. Now, that’s not my opinion, that was a fact. One he would remind me of over the years. But between you and I there’s a great possibility he might have also told this to my sisters. He was a ladies man what can I say. 

As I’m writing this today, it feels surreal that life has tasked me with the painful honor of commemorating my nephew's life. His departure has left an irreplaceable void in my heart but in the midst of my sorrow, I’m here to celebrate his life, cherishing the moments we spent with him.

This tribute carries unique significance as my nephews and niece hold a special place in my heart. When he was a toddler I played the role of a big sister, often times changing my plans  and making them kid friendly so we would both have fun as I “babysat”. He was my little sidekick everywhere I went and my friends absolutely loved him. When he became a teenager I became a mentor, by reminding him of all my mistakes and encouraging him to walk pass them. When he became an adult my role changed to a confidante, and those secrets I will take to my grave.  But most importantly, simply a loving friend. I’ve always told my nephews I am their friend before their Aunt and I mean every word. When he called, I didn’t judge and when he texted I was his bro.


Yayo, you traveled the world and I saw its beauty thru your eyes. You were known for your kindness, your adventurous spirit, or your sense of humor. Your zeal for life inspired me to try new things, and your resilience taught me the meaning of courage. My pain does not overshadow your life, instead, it underscores the depth of my love for you. It is a testament to how much you were valued and how dearly you will be missed.

Yayo, you were not just my nephew, but a dear friend, an essential part of my life. Youhad a vitality that was contagious and a spirit that was indomitable. You embraced life with a zest and enthusiasm that was truly inspiring and will always be the true definition of a model citizen.

I remember when you were just a little boy; you had an insashiable curiosity about the world. It was a joy to watch you grow and evolve, learning, exploring, making a difference in your own unique ways. You had a passion for life and it was always a pleasure to listen to you speak so animatedly about your goals for the future. Over time, watching you accomplish them one by one.

But beyond your interests and achievements, what truly defined you was your character. You were a person of integrity, compassion, and warmth. You stood by your principles, always lending a helping hand to those in need. Your resilient spirit, even in the face of adversity, was admirable.

When you found love, you were deserving of it. You knew from the very start that one day she’d be walking wearing your ring on her finger. Then I remember getting an Amazon wish list for their new home. My husband and I chose to gift him a mechanic tool set for his future man cave in the garage. As well as all the house hold tools he would ever need to build Skyler everything her little heart desired and or take apart anything she no longer needed. When you called to say thank you, I reminded you that although you were the man of the house; Skyler would most likely run it.  You laughed and said “ you know what they right, happy wife happy life” to what I replied “no sir, happy spouse happy house” you said “I like that one better”.

Yayo, you impacted my life in more ways than I can articulate. Your wisdom belied your years, and I often found myself turning to you for advice or insight. Your optimistic outlook on life, your tenacity, and your innate ability to see the good in everything and everyone has left an indelible mark on my heart.

Today, as we grapple with this profound loss, I take solace in the memories we made, the laughter we shared, and the countless moments of joy you brought into our lives. Our hearts ache with grief, but we must remember that you would want us to remember you with love and joy, not just sorrow.

In the end, it's not the years in life that matter, but the life in the years. And you lived your years fully, touching our lives, leaving us with beautiful memories that we will cherish forever.

As I say my final goodbyes, I will remember you for your indomitable spirit, your joyous laughter, and the love you had for each and every one of us. I would like to conclude with a phrase I often said to you and believe you appreciated: “ I Love you today “.

Austin was Hayden’s best friend growing up. He still considers Austin the best friend he ever had.

Beall was my best friend in OSUT and while we were stationed together in Fort Hood. He was always an amazing person to have around and I will forever cherish my memories of him on our adventures in Texas. He was always caring and willing to help, even if it was just to watch my animals or in our training exercises. Robyn, Jekyll, and I will forever remember him in our hearts.
