Deanna Kaye Guidice, age 76 of Everett, Washington passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025 comforted and surrounded by her loved ones. Deanna, who went by Dena, was the youngest of five children born to Fern Bernice Haakinson and Ralph Glenn Haakinson, on April 7,1949 in Sioux City, Iowa. Dee (the nickname given to her by her family), spent the first few years of her life there and then moved to Burbank, California with her family to live with her Uncle Joe, where she recalls her fondest childhood memories. When she was a teenager in 1964, they all moved to Rogue River, Oregon and lived in a small home that her father had built for them.
Dena attended Rogue River High School until she met her future husband, Walter Warren Guidice, who swept her off her feet and moved her to Seattle, Washington. That is where they started their family by having 3 children within the span of 3 years, Tonja Kaye, Walter Warren and Ladora Lynn. They bought a little house in Mountlake Terrace, Washington where the three children were raised and graduated from the high school in that same town. While the kids were young, Dena was a waitress for a few years, a stay at home mom for most of the time, and then a bingo caller when the kids were older. She enjoyed playing bingo and going out with Walt, their relationship was on and off for many years, but they always remained friends. Dena took care of Walt when he had cancer until he passed away on July 4, 1999. That was the same year that she also found out that she had stage 4 cancer and was given 3 months to live, but God had other plans. She miraculously went into a 26 year remission from cancer where she was able to spend those additional gifted years focusing on her newly growing family and growing her faith in God. Unfortunately, last year, she received news that there was new cancer in her body, she fought it valiantly and aggressively, but the Lord called her home this time around, and she is now free from pain and illness and gathered with the ones she loves that went before her in Heaven.
Dena is survived by her brother Melvin (Cork) Haakinson and his wife Janice, and her sisters Sharon Duffy and Carol DeFrancesco. She is preceded in death by her mother Fern Haakinson, her father Ralph Haakinson, and her brother Merlin (Bugs) Haakinson. She is also survived by her children, Tonja Burke and her husband Shaun Burke, Walter Guidice, Jr. and his wife Crystal Guidice, Ladora DeFrancesco and her husband Rick DeFrancesco. She was so proud of and adored her grandchildren that she is survived by who are Chantelle, Corinne, Brady and Grace, Blake, Brooke and Brielle, Ian, Hannah, Jacob and Isaac and their spouses as well as her precious great grandchildren, Lexi and Kallie, Brooks and Railey and Carter and Noelle, as well as many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.
