Oh, Casper….we had been trying to contact you since your birthday in the fall. You were the best grandpa I ever had. One of the last times you were in California we took my kids to universal studios and we sang “we like to move it, move it” from Madagascar movie. I always think of you when I hear it. I will fondly remember going to carnivals, playing games, feeding squirrels, going to the lake, winning prizes on sweepstakes and watching you play softball. It was always about having fun. Thank you for loving my grandma Margie and taking care of her to the very end. I hope you are together again. Love, your granddaughter, Melissa Gerwe

I will always remember Casper and Margie for all the best Easter and 4th of July memories! They really knew how to put on an event!!!! My best childhood memories will always include them! Rest in peace Casper, til we meet again.

When Donny came to stay with us a few months he was about 12.  I remember he was suffering from asthma and our parents thought it would be better for him to stay in the country for fresher air.  Everett at that time was called "the city of smokestacks" and polluted with smoke from mills.
   From the very beginning, Donny, was a member of our family and I thought of him as my Big Brother rather than my cousin.  He was loved.  Aunt Max & uncle Gordy treated him like their 3rd child.
   Over the years, as we were growing up Donny periodically  would  come to stay with us.  We all
 loved him and he would say he always felt our home was his home.  Aunt Max, uncle Gordy, Pud and me. 
   When Donny was around 15, his family moved by us,  a block from our home . It was then we got to see each other a lot.
 One of my fondest memories  was when Donny was collecting lost golf balls at the  Evergreen Golf Course  where he would caddy during the summer. I think he was 16 then.  I had a dog, Lucky.  Donny  got an idea, he wanted to "rent" Lucky from me for 25 cents and he bought a can of Friskies dog food, for Lucky .  The  golf course, close by, was fenced and lots of bushes  surrounding it where Donny and I would throw rocks into the bushes and say,"go get the ball Lucky", and almost every time he came out with a ball and then  he would get his Friskies treat. In turn Donny would clean the balls and sell them to the golfers .
   In June ,2010 Mom died and  Donny came to her funeral. He spoke of how he always felt a part of our family the many times he stayed with us and the special love he had for Mom, he called his 2nd Mom.
      Donny has a special place in my heart and we all loved him.  I'll see you in Heaven Donny!   " Sissy"     (Charlene Monger)

I knew Donald Gene Casper for 34 years; which means he was 58 years when we first met. Over that time, we shared a love of music, poetry, and most importantly of all, humor. He had a very keen sense of humor and would often laugh at himself as well as others. I would affectionately refer to him as "Old Fart." For some reason or another he deligthed in me calling him that. I enjoyed building and sharing memories with him and talking about his life, because it was like listening to an audio book. His mind was very sharp until the very end and he could often recount stories going back to his childhood. As I stated earlier, he had a strong love for music, and he would often call Lorelei or I asking about a song or singing a particular song that came to mind. Keep in mind that his mental songbook went back to his teenager years. Most songs he requested we would know and others we would have to Google or do a Youtube investigation. I would then make a CD with all his request and send them to him for his listening pleasure, and because he appreciated it. It was my greatest pleasure to put together music for him because any song he would listen to would magically take him back to the first time he heard it, and he would often share a story with you about that time. He loved nature and animals to the fullest and often donated to many humanitarian charities that embodied the same principles. He was my father-in-law, but more importantly, he was my friend. Lorelei, I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your father. I hope fond memories of him will bring you comfort. Wishing you peace during this difficult time. Love, Robin.

Love and miss you so much Dad. So grateful that I had you in my life for as long as I did. You were such an amazing person, and were loved by many. You were my hero, my friend and my light. You loved people, nature, music and animals. I will never forget your stories. You loved God’s creations more than anyone I know. Can’t wait to see you again in heaven. Love and miss you so much. Thank you for being the best Father a daughter could ever ask for. Bless you Dad.
