Dora Lucile Twedt was born on May 31,1944 in Seattle, WA to Monroe and Georgina Hartig, and older brother Jim. Dora was raised on farm fresh milk from the family's goat farm in rural Bothell. Dora claimed goat milk was the reason for her youthful complexion, and overall health and wellness. Anything good that happened in life was attributed to goat milk.
Dora graduated from Bothell High School in June of 1962. She went on a post-graduation Hawaiian vacation with dear cousins Elly, Marge and Vonnie.
Dora and her late husband Richard's love story spanned nearly sixty years. They met at a service station in Bothell where Dick worked. One of their early dates was to the Space Needle for the 1962 World Fair in Seattle. Within six months, they were pinned. Dick asked for Dora's hand in marriage that Christmas. They were wed on June 8, 1963.
That same year Dick and Dora bought their first home in Lynnwood. Jeff was born in 1965. They became a family of four when Greg was born five years later.
In 1974 Dora's dream to own land came to fruition with the purchase of five acres in Bothell near Mill Creek. Dick and Dora started building the following year and by 1976 their new home was complete. They eventually built a sheet metal fabrication shop on their property. Dora was the office manager of their small family business, TNT Enterprises.
Dora was an intuitive cook and baker, a skilled knitter, and an avid gardener. She will always be remembered for her signature apple pies, mouthwatering pot roasts, and lavish holiday feasts. Each meal was made with love and "a little bit of this, and a little bit of that." Dora positively adored lawn ornaments, especially flamingos, or "tacky birds," as she fondly called them.
Dora was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease in 2022. She died in her sleep early in the morning on April 14, 2026. She is survived by sons Jeff (Julea) and Greg (Nicole), grandchildren Bradley, Margaux (Stephen), Greta (Elijah), Emily, Steven, Lauren and Noah, and great-granddaughter Brielle. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, her beloved husband Richard and countless loved ones.
