Gene was born to George and Jeanette Torrence in Canada, on April 4, 1927, and was the third child with older brothers Gerard and Floyd.
On January 11, 1947, he married Margery Francis Bouma and had nine children: Steven (Nancy), Leone St. Clair, Susan (Vic) Santie, Jane (Steve) McMahon, Ann, George (deceased), Jon (Sue), Dan (Katherine), and Eric (Sonya). Gene was preceded in death by his wife Micki in May 2011. He had twenty-two grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, all who were a source of great joy and pride. He will be truly missed as the patriarch of the family.
Besides his pride in family, Gene had a love of golf, grew beautiful roses, was very successful in business, and played a “mean” game of bridge.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2017, at the Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynnwood. Following at 3:30 p.m., a memorial service celebrating his life will be held at the Everett First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Leone St. Clair for the Sujay Welfare Society (orphanage) in India.
