

George Morris Butler was born in Bridgeton, NJ on January 4, 1944. He departed this life on December 15, 2017 at age 73 after a long battle with lung cancer. He was the son of the late Daniel Carlton Butler and Panzye Donaldson Butler.
George married Amelia Ann Webster on May 11, 1963 and they remained happily married for 54 years.
George attended the public school system in Bridgeton, NJ and graduated high school in 1962.He attended college at the Everett Community College and the University of Washington in Washington State. He served 4 years in the US Air Force travelling to Texas, Washington, and the country of Turkey. After being honorably discharged from the US Air Force he was employed for a short time with the Boeing Company and was employed for 30 years with SAFECO Insurance Company in Seattle, Washington where he retired as an Assistant Vice President.
George loved to cook and he, his wife Amelia and their children traveled to many of the US states and the countries of Canada, Bermuda, Mexico and a few Caribbean countries. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and he was a member of a Bridge club, where he and Amelia frequently played with many of their friends.
George was predeceased by his parents Daniel and Panzye Butler, two brothers Edwin and Daniel Butler, and one sister Charlotte Cole.
George leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife Amelia, a son Morris, a daughter Kristi, one brother Donald Butler of Bridgeton, NJ, four sisters, Lucille Dunkins and Janice Sease of Bridgeton, NJ, Marcella Rowe of Newfield, NJ and Delores Frain of Jonesboro, GA and a very special aunt, Eleanor Caldwell of Lakewood, NJ. He also leaves behind five brothers-in-law Johnny Cole, and Willie Sease Jr. of Bridgeton, NJ David Rowe of Newfield, NJ Leroy Webster of Vineland, NJ and George Webster Sr. of Bridgeton, NJ. One daughter in-law Sheri Aakre Butler and two grandchildren, Marisa and Marcus Butler and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The visitation will be held on Saturday December 23rd at 11am-2pm followed by a home going service held from 2pm-4pm at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills in Lynnwood, WA. George will be sadly missed by all, but his legacy will live on through his loving family and friends.
