Helen spent her young adult years working as a bank teller. In her free time she loved to travel with her girlfriends. Hawaii was a favorite spot. On May 18, 1971 Helen married Barry O’Brien. Together as a blended family they raised 4 children. Helen’s love for travel was experienced on many trips with her siblings and their spouses. She had great memories from trips to Alaska, Hawaii and Europe. One of Helen’s greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered as the Grandma who had the “gift of giving”, as she showed her love to her family with thoughtful and special gifts.
Helen is survived by her children, Dana Carlson, JoAnne O’Brien and Steven O’Brien; grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica, Noelle and Jordan Carlson; brother Stanley Thomson; niece Jill Storm and nephews David and Art Thomson.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Barry and son John.
