I see you in the early dawn and  at sunset, I feel your embrace in gentleness of the wind and I know you are with me always.
I miss you.

Auntie,
  When I think of you I shall remember our grocery shopping adventures. You always had a mission and you pushed your cart with determination going down each and every grocery aisle. At the end of your mission, your grocery cart was always overflowing and we would strategize and find humor on how two women would carry all the grocery bags from the car to your apartment. You would insist on sending me home with a bag full of fruit and some sweet dessert.  In our adventures we shared recipes and chatted about cooking shows. You loved the Two Fat Ladies British cooking show and I loved Emeril.  I have never tasted pancakes as good as the ones you made, and to this I add monkey bread and lemon buttermilk pound cake. I will cherish these moments shared with you.

Auntie Hermie was a good friend to my mom and the rest of the family for years. I was even the flower girl at her sister auntie Hetty's wedding. I spend a lovely time with her in California when she was making a wedding dress and helped her with it.  We have kept in touch over the years.  May her soul rest in peace and rise in glory. Until we meet.


I was lucky enough to spend time with my Great Aunt Hermie when I moved to Seattle in 2011. She and Hettie had the best stories about my grandfather and my dad  and made me feel entirely at home in a part of the country where I knew no one. I'll always have fond memories of the holidays we spent together. My condolences to the Lynwood family, especially Hettie and Marion. May Aunt Hermie's memory be a blessing.

I have many fond memories of my great aunt, Hermie, especially from childhood - walks through Santa Monica from pre-school, hot, homemade meals enjoyed at her and Uncle Al's home, many hours spent gardening (picking strawberries was my favorite), listening to her stories of her travels and early childhood years in Guyana, where she learned to sew and was able to contribute to her family's business. Aunt Hermie loved to chat and was a wonderful hostess. She lived a long, full life and I look forward to meeting up with her, again, Over Yonder.

I'm grateful for the time I was able to share with Auntie as a kid. She would have me help her with her garden, and I grew to love gardening as a result. I always felt welcome in her home -- whether it was for afternoon visits, sleepovers, or spending time with out-of-town family. My condolences to Aunt Hettie, Marion, and the rest of the family. Auntie will be missed. With love, Anika

My aunt was a very generous woman . When I was a child she took me to my first trip to Disney land , universal studios , magic mountain and my first summer camp. That summer her and I drew pictures together of her flower garden in California. I will always remember that summer with you auntie, until we meet again rest in paradise.
