JJ brought laughter to our halls and classrooms. His spirit brightened my horticulture classes the past two years and his presence will be absolutely missed. He often surprised me with his gentleness, as someone who needed to be on the move, and I cherished the moments I got to walk with him out to the greenhouse to hear his thoughts and insights. It was always such a joy to work alongside him in the greenhouse and garden or see him laughing with his table group. I remember a particular time when we were filling a new garden bed with compost and kept finding worms - JJ would take care not to slice them in half with his shovel and gently scooped them into the container. Sweet soul! He will be deeply missed and I'll think of him whenever we work in that garden bed. 

JJ was the highlight of my day when working with him is history- some days he just couldn’t get started on an assignment ~ so I would say “get three done then I will give you gum!” Ohhh man he would get them done!! Then when I would see him in the hallways- we would give high fives- and I with have gum in the hand I gave him high with 😊 I would always ask how he was doing when he got to class…. He would tell me…. Then he would always ask..” and how are you, Ms Chester?”  RIP JJ 🖤❤️🖤❤️ Will always remember you 💜

Will miss his laugh and that little smirk on his face!! I enjoyed watching him and the other Martha Lake kiddos grow up, and he was always so sweet with my kids; most recently coloring/drawing with my 9 year old daughter when he came over with Kielli. :-)

I didn't know JJ very well, but the person I knew him to be was kind and respectful, with a witty sense of humor. He would swing by the College and Career Center to steal a lollipop, and to say hello. How many times did I ask that kid to join the cross country and track teams? And how many times did he laugh at me and change the subject by asking about the different colleges pinned to the wall? So many! 

Those moments left me shaking my head, smiling, and looking forward to his next visit.

Please know that he was cared for in our community. 
I am so sorry for your loss.


JJ always brought his energy to the classroom and he will be missed so much. His smile and laughter were highlights of his character. I remember taking a walk around the agora with him. He opened up and shared some things he experienced and I was grateful for that brief moment of getting to know the real JJ.  I will forever cherish the time he spent at LHS and in my classroom. 


JJ was in my English class for the past two years. Seeing him was always a bright spot in my day. I could count on him to smile and talk to me. I feel blessed for the time that I was able to spend with him. I will remember him fondly and miss him deeply. 

Dear Sanchez-Camunas family,

I am so sorry for your loss.  My heart is heavy in knowing the profound amount of loss you all have endured.  JJ was always so polite and respectful to me when I worked with him at LHS.  I have been thinking of you-all and especially Justin.
