

John Kim Carter, age 62 died unexpectedly December 19th, 2020. He was en route from the dog groomer to his home in Marysville, Washington. His oldest son Cameron and beloved German Shepherd, Niko, were by his side. After hours of medical attention he was pronounced deceased of a heart attack at Providence Medical Center.
John was born October 1st, 1958 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene, Oregon. Born to Jack E. Carter and his wife Barbara T.(Kimura) Carter. As the oldest of two boys, he started his life in the small town of Oakridge, Oregon and then the family moved to Eugene, Oregon where he spent the rest of his early childhood. He graduated from North Eugene High School in 1977. While there he enjoyed playing tennis, intramural sports, and participating in the radio club. Anything to do with the function of a sport John was there, he was a referee, an umpire and occasionally announced basketball games. After highschool, John coached softball and attended Portland State University where he graduated with a bachelors in Business.
While on Spring break John married Nancy Kimball in 1986. Shortly after graduation they moved to Everett, Washington and started their family raising two sons, Cameron and Brock who were the light of his life. John started his Career with McCaw cellular which was later acquired by AT&T Wireless, he remained at AT&T for over 20 years before accepting an early retirement and then went on to work for Puget Sound Energy. John loved his job and cherished the comradery with all he worked with. John was a big guy with a bigger heart, never quick to anger; he lived his life with ease and grace. He loved to hear a good story as well as share one. Johns' quick wit and a hearty sense of humor won him many lifelong friendships.
While not working John would spend his time with his family, watching college sports and binge watching old television shows. He was an avid Huskies fan and would travel to as many away football games as time permitted. John was also a collector of things, his most recent collection would include fountain pens and of course his Oakley sunglasses, he saved every card and gift that was ever given to him and had a large dresser where he only needed to open a drawer to think of those who sent them.
John was preceded in death by his mother Barbara Carter. He is survived by his life partner Nancy Carter and his two sons Cameron Carter and Brock Carter both of Marysville. Parents Jack (Ilene) Carter of Tuson, Az. His Brother Steve (Bonnie) Carter of Camas Wa. Sisters Debbie (David) Mansfield of Portland,Or., Kim (Tony) Hernandez of Eugene, Or. Nieces and Nephews Chad Southworth, Alex(Mary Dawn Elkington) Hernandez, Ariana(Chavo) Garcia, Owen Mansfield, Kristina Hernendez, Matt Carter, Nick Carter, Jake Carter, Luke Carter.
John’s family and friends will celebrate John’s life at a later date as the pandemic permits. A small graveside service was held at Purdy & Walters Floral HIlls in Lynnwood December 28th 2020. The world experienced a significant loss by John’s passing. All who knew him will miss him profoundly.
