On Thursday, November 5th 2020, Peggy Ernst passed from this life to the next. Peggy was the youngest of three children and the only girl. She graduated from High School in Bremerton, Washington and studied to be a nurse. She met the love of her life, Herbert Ernst, during WWII and they were married for 47 years and raised four sons. Herb died in 1992 and left a hole in Peggy’s heart that was never filled.
Peggy was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother. She had a joy in her life and sharing that life with Herb, especially valuing the many trips they took together. She was a loving and caring mother to her four sons, Danny (Jeanie), Jerry, Bruce (Kathy), and Byron and was acknowledged to make the best brown bag school lunches which were sometimes “stolen” by hungry friends of her sons.
Peggy enjoyed card and board games, dancing and bowling, and just generally enjoying herself. She had a special love for dogs, especially her beloved Sandy, Penny, and her last dog, Ginger.
Peggy spent the last years of her life at St. Francis in Bellingham where she received excellent, compassionate care. The staff appreciated her wit and personality and were there to walk with her as her abilities waned.
Peggy is survived by her four sons, twelve grandchildren, and twenty-three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Lois, her two brothers Bob and Jack, her husband, Herb, and three daughters-in-law, Eleanor, Bonnie, and Kay.
Peggy will be buried alongside her husband at Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynnwood, Washington. A celebration of Life will be held for the family and friends in the Spring. Memorials in Peggy’s name may be made to St Francis of Bellingham, 3121 Squalicum Parkway, Bellingham, Washington.
