

Marie Travis Marks was born July 10, 1922 at 830 NW 62nd St in Ballard, Seattle, Washington to Benjamin and Eva Travis She attended West Woodlands and Whittier Grade Schools. Then she went to James Monroe Junior High School and while in Ballard High School she left and went to live with her sister-in-law, while her brother was at sea. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1941. She was very active in all school sports. Marie worked at Bemis Bag Co and Blake Paper Co in Seattle. She and her twin sister both worked at Rhodes Department Store. She married three times, first husband was killed in WWII and she divorced the second. She had one daughter and 3 step daughters. In 1966 she met Gordon and on January 7th of 1967 they were married and made their home in Lynnwood and have been together ever since. In 1987 they bought property in Cedar Grove, Concrete, Washington. Marie lived there while Gordon was still working and was home on weekends and in 1989 he retired from the steel company in West Seattle and went to live in Concrete. In December 6, 2005 they sold their mobile home and moved to the apartment over the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Concrete. On May 8, 2005 they moved to Warm Beach Senior Housing, where she and her husband enjoyed so much, until Gordon passed away on January 26, 2014. Heart broken she went to be with him on May 25, 2014 in Mount Vernon, Washington. Marie was 91 years old. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers , 2 sisters and also her twin sister. Memorial services will be on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills 409 Filbert Rd, Lynnwood, WA.
