June 28, 1925 – February 5, 2017
Merry Kimball, 91, passed away February 5th in Issaquah. She was born in Denver, Colorado, and moved with her family to Salt Lake City, and later to the Seattle area, where she lived the majority of her life. Merry worked first as a typist at the University of Washington, and later as an accomplished voice lesson teacher, educating talented singers in the Seattle area for more than 35 years. Music was her greatest passion, and her keen ear and polished experience helped countless students perfect their talents. Some students later attended music schools such as Julliard and Carnegie Mellon, in addition to performing in Broadway shows, television performances, and the Seattle Opera.
Merry also loved opera, musical plays, and symphony orchestra. A soloist and choir member for 50 years, she was also active in her church as a deacon at the First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue alongside the love of her life, her late husband, Frederick Kimball. Surviving her are two sons, Bruce Kimball and Mark Kimball, whom she leaves behind along with her grandchildren, Roger Kimball and Holly Dayton, and a great-grandson. She also cherished traveling, gardening, the Seahawks, good conversation and coffee. Merry volunteered as a Den Mother for her sons’ Cub Scout Den; her favorite charity was the Humane Society. Although disabled, Merry never considered herself challenged and lived her life to the fullest. Merry is preceded in death by her husband Fred Kimball, her sister Gladys Richter, and her mother Frieda Bredenberg.
A memorial service and burial will take place Friday, February 10, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Floral Hills Cemetery, 409 Filbert Road, in Lynnwood, Washington.
