Richard Edward Schmidt went to be with JESUS on May 24, 2013; with his extraordinary strong will to live, his unwavering faith in God, & Love & Prayers of family, friends & supporters, it carried him through, a 7 mo. grueling fight with Pancreatic Cancer. Throughout his own personal struggle with his cancer, he never ceased to amaze his loved ones with his determination, contagious smile & entertaining sense of humor. Richard was born an only child, to Richard & Marion Schmidt, in Seattle WA.; after graduating & attending Blanchet & Ballard High Schools, he began working as a Brick Mason & soon owned his own Masonry Co., RICHARD SCHMIDT MASONRY, SINCE 1973. He worked right up until the day before his diagnosis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Schmidt & Marion Lester. He’s survived by his Soul Mate & WIFE OF 50 ½ YEARS: Carol Anne, Daughter, Kimberly (Ken), Sons, Rick, Dan (Daughter-in-Law), Sandra, Son, Joe, (Tammy), & his 5 precious Grandchildren, WHOM, HE ADORED: Brittney, Courtney, Faith, Grace & Joey. His Stepmom, Alice Schmidt & half brothers & sister, John, Steve, Ken & Lynda Schmidt. , YOU WERE A WONDERFUL, HUSBAND, FATHER, PAPA, BROTHER, SON & FRIEND. YOU ARE FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS, & WILL BE MISSED GREATLY,WE ALL LOVE YOU SO MUCH!! Daddy Loved and looked forward to his date nights with his one and only sweetheart, whom he adored, Carol Ann. He Liked going to the Red Robin, or Bobs burgers, for fish and Chips, and not to forget his His Root-beer Floats. He loved Klondike Bars, Lemon Meringue Pie, a good Steak, fresh Marion-berry pie with Ice-cream, and all you can eat crab, at Muckleshoot Casino. He was the Biggest MARINERS fan I have ever seen. During his illness he literally had to watch the Mariners in the ER, all his hospital stays, and always was concerned about whether they had a TV, and what the score was. He would watch it as he faded in and out of his medications. He laid in the Hospital bed with my brother, Joe, wearing his Mariner shirt. I really wanted to arrange for him to meet them, but he was taken from us too early. He was also the guy who you saw in the ER, laying in his gurney, while on the Cell phone, conducting Business. He also loved to play cards, especially 21. He liked going to Tulalip to play their tournaments, and played since he was 21 years old, back in the RENO days. he also was good at craps. He Liked to walk around Murphy's auction, with the boys. He loved Golf, Fishing, hunting, especially "Indian Heaven", with my brother Rick. He enjoyed the 20 years working along side my brother Dan, and was so glad that my brother Joe moved back from Florida, as I think GOD arranged that. I have many many great memories, and there were literally eight years that he would take me and my mom out for a fun night on the town. It included a Las Vegas 41st anniversary for them, (LOL). He especially Loved Family time, Picnics and the Family barb-b-q's. Daddy was just a simple, humble laid back man, and his Family was his Life. The simple things are what made him happy. He adored his Grandkids. He was just a big kid at heart. He was so happy that Joey got to come and spend time with him, as that meant the world to him. He was at Joeys Graduation in Spirit. He was selfless and always put everyone before himself, (always). He drove around the same 1993, Ford F-250, only worried about whether or not everyone else had a safe good working car. He brought us to Disneyland, Knottsberryfarm, Magic Mountain, Yellowstone-park, Reno, Las Vegas, Camping, many times, and brought my nieces to Disney World, and left us with Beautiful never-ending memories. He built our house, 35 years ago. Its all Brick, with a brick tiled roof, and three big fireplaces. He gave us many great Loving memories to cherish. There are so many things I could say about what a great human-being he was. He was so smart at math and he could have been an architect. When he said something, it wasn't a lot of words, but he had a special talent at saying a lot with meaning. He would want us to mention Dr. Markowitz, He really thought a lot of him. We also thank him for all he did. We would also like to thank all the ANGELS on the 8th floor, that took care of him, while he was in the Hospital. He really appreciated all they did for him, and He knows they took good care of him. We all love you so much daddy, and will see you again in Heaven someday...................for God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten, that whom so ever Believeth in him, shall not Perish, but have everlasting life...John 3:16. My Daddy Loved JESUS!!!!
