Robert “Bob” Aaron Rhoads was born on August 25th 1941 to Ruth and Ralph Rhoads in Hershey PA. His older siblings Romain and Marvin were thrilled to have a little brother to pick on! Bob joined the Air Force in 1960 and served 4 years. He travelled from Alaska to Japan, after the military he decided he wanted to see the states. He packed up and headed west. He and best friends landed in LA, they lived a great life on the beach.
He met Cheri Turner and fell in love .They were married on October 14th 1972. They lived in CA for a bit and then moved north. They spent time in Aloha, OR and Bellevue, WA before settling in Kirkland, WA to raise their children Cari and Dan. Bob and Cheri lived in their precious Kirkland home for nearly 40 years.
They had just begun their new life in Enumclaw a year and half ago. He felt he had found his west coast “Hershey PA” community and was completely content there.
Bob and his wife Cheri were avid Road-Trippers, traveling across America many times to visit family and see the “sites”.
Some of their favorite places included, Branson MO, The Grand Canyon, Nashville TN and Glacier MT.
Bob Rhoads aka “Papaw” loved his grandchildren- Elly, Turner, Finn and Freida. They brought him joy every day! He loved collecting and polishing rocks, beach combing and watching Disney movies, playing Xbox and building Legos with them!
Bob spent many years working for Nortel in the field of Telecommunications. He retired 12 years ago and enjoyed nothing more than a day filled with the football, Bud Light and his puppy, Abby Rose, and of course his wife- by his side!
Bob and Cheri loved the Lord and their home church of Canyon Hills Community Church. He was an avid supporter of World Vision and Samaritan’s Purse. We would be honored if you would like to make a donation in his name to any of these organizations.
Arrangements under the direction of Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills, Lynnwood, WA.
