He was born to Hedvig and Louis Erickson in Portland, Oregon in January 1926. He lived in Portland with is parents and younger sister attending Kennedy grade school and Jefferson High School. After high school he served in the Army Air Corps in WWII. Upon returning home he met and wed Ellen Maxine Frame in 1950.
Roy graduated from the University of Oregon and went on to work in the insurance industry. He and Maxine raised 3 children. The family enjoyed camping and the outdoors while living in Oregon until 1970.
A career move for Roy took them to Washington where they resided for 50+ years. With the Puget Sound so nearby Roy and the family became active in boating. After retirement he and Maxine enjoyed traveling and spent many winters in Arizona golfing, hiking, and spending time with family including two granddaughters.
