Sigrid Snare passed from this life into eternity on December 19th, 2016 in Everett, WA. Sigrid was born in Kjerkefjord, Lofoten, Norway on May 13, 1924 to Anders and Ragna Berntzen. She led a blessed and courageous life and set sail from her home in Norway to Seattle, Washington in 1948 while in her early 20’s. While on the boat, she met the love of her life, Rolf Snare (1924-1991). They were married in 1949 and shared many wonderful years together raising five children. Sigrid loved art, knitting, music, nature, cooking and baking Norwegian foods, and a deep connection with her faith. She was a skilled painter and enjoyed painting nature scenes and was an active member of "The Royal Brush", a painting club in Edmonds during the 1970-1980's. She also taught Sunday school and sang in the choir at Maple Park Lutheran Brethren Church. Sigrid was an active volunteer at her church and World Concern. Her love of music was something she passed on to her children and grandchildren. Fond memories include her playing the guitar or piano and singing hymns or Norwegian lullabies. Sigrid went out of her way to help people and had a lasting, positive impact on everyone she touched. She was a caregiver at heart and enjoyed caring for her children and grandchildren. Sigrid is survived by four children, Ronald (Dianne), Frank (Leah), Daniel (Beth), & Elisabeth, eight grandchildren, Kirsten, Erik, Karina, Derek, Karen, Hannah, Jack and Ellen, and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Rolf Snare and her son Richard Snare. A memorial service to honor her life and legacy will be held at Maple Park Lutheran Brethren Church on the 21st day of January 2017 at 11am.
