He was born in South Dakota to parents Grant Cornelius Young and Bertha Cora Hanson Young. As a young man, he joined the Army, and then on March, 3, 1950, he married the love of his life, Marvel M. Buck in Polson, Montana.
William was a machinist for the Burlington Northern Railroad and later for Amtrak. His hobbies included bargain shopping, swimming, fishing, and working on cars.
William was preceded in death by his parents Grant and Bertha Young, brothers Gordon Young, Duane Hanson, Richard Young and Robert Young; sisters Hazel Richmond, Bethel Nelson, and Alice Person.
He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Marvel M. Young; children Dennis Young, Pam Bigelow, Carey Young, and Lorrie Zybura; sisters Arletta Young and Cynthia McElderry; brothers Teddy Young and Mickey Young; 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of life held at a later date.
