

Alice Faye Newsome, 69, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011 due to complications resulting from an automobile accident on June 19th, 2011. In the midst of tragedy she found life that never ends. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at 3P.M. at Riverside United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Stephen Waldorf and Rev. Mike Newsome officiating. The family will greet friends on Sunday, October 9, 2011 from 1:30 P.M. to service time at Riverside United Methodist Church.
Alice was born in McRae, Ga., January 20, 1942. She received her BA degree and her Masters degree in Logistics Management from Georgia College and State University. Alice was employed full-time at WRAFB and her service of nearly four decades had a great impact on this nation's global air defense.
Her years of service and accomplishments included: Logistics Specialist, F-15 Activation Team; Logistics Management, C-130 Directorate; Avionics Directorate; Production Management Specialist Supervisor; Program Manager for AC-130 Gun Ships; Chief of SOF Integration Division. Alice received many other honors for her accomplishments and leadership. Upon retirement, she worked for a private Air Defense Contractor until her accident and death.
Alice Faye also sang with the Choral Society for many years and was a compassionate and faithful mom and grandmother who is most noted for her acts of compassion to her family and others.
Some called her Alice, some Faye, some Alice Faye. Her grandchildren called her "Mee Mee." Her nephews and nieces called her Aunt Faye. Whatever you called her, you knew who you were talking to, an authentic person who loved people dearly. Memories of her vibrant personality will forever be treasured by her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her father, brother and one of her sons, all of middle Georgia. -She is survived by her mother, Rosia Marie Bush; and her son, Mike (Dawn) Newsome; her sister-in-law, Carol Bush; and several grandchildren, Olivia, John and Chancellor Newsome; Kale, Matthew, Taylor, and Alexia Newsome, along with several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to the International House of Prayer - Macon, 4013 Northside Drive, Macon, Ga. 31210 and First Presbyterian Day School at 5671 Calvin Drive, Macon, Ga. 31210.
