

Angelyn C. Cheek died Monday, April 20th at Pine Pointe Hospice. A memorial service to commemorate her passing will be held at Lanett First United Methodist Church, Lanett, AL on Saturday, May 23rd at 2:00 PM. Memorial Gifts may be made to Lanett First United Methodist Church, 508 South 6th Street Lanett, Al 36863 or charity of donor’s choice.
She was born in Shawmut, Alabama and lived for many years in Lanett, Alabama. She later moved to Macon to be near her brother, Ferris.
In 1947, Ann was a graduate nurse from City Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. In 1950, she graduated as a Nurse Anesthetist from Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. For thirty-seven years she was employed at Lanier Memorial Hospital in Lanett.
She was an active member of her Sunday School Class at Lanett First United Methodist Church. She volunteered at the Bradshaw Library and the Savannah Court Home. Ann was a member of the Heart of Georgia Emmaus Community. Through the years, she was an avid member of the Bridge Players’ Group. For many years she and her husband, Morris, welcomed friends for monthly religions emphasis gatherings. When Ann moved to Vineville Christian Towers, she participated in Sunday School and Worship Services at the Christian Church of Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Alma Maddox Coplin; son, Anthony Cheek of Lanett; sister, Elaine Buttler Greene of Houston, TX.
Survivors include her son John Christopher (Terrie) Cheek, El Paso, TX; brother, Ferris M. (Claudette) Coplin; sister-in-law, Doris Moon, Langdale, AL; nieces Elizabeth Hey, Colorado Springs, CO, Sarah Lopez, Leander, TX; nephews, Jim Buttler, Houston, TX, Randy Moon, Langdale, AL; Niel J. Coplin, Macon, GA, Ferris J. (Dawn) Coplin, Athens, GA; grandchildren Angel (Mike) Viton, Columbus, OH, Johnathon (Paige) Cheek, Reidsville, NC (mother – Debbi Walker, Reynoldsburg, OH), Stephen Cheek, Mobile, AL (Mother – Lisa C. West, Lanett, AL), Marianne (Josh) Smith, Fort Polk, LA, Rachel Cheek, El Paso, TX, Anthony (Roxanne) Basurto, Woodville, TX; great grandchildren Bailey Cheek, Reidsville, NC, Noah Viton, Columbus, OH, Jace Smith, Fort Polk, LA, Nathan & Jocelyn Sahagen, El Paso, TX.
Ann will be greatly missed by her family, friends at V.C.T. and the Fellowship at the Christian Church, Will Powers, Pastor and Sunday School Teachers, Mike and Nance Copeland.
Angelyn Cheek was a beautiful Christian and a gracious friend.
