

Betty Harkness Pierce, 71, passed away after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at 2P.M. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Riverside Cemetery Mausoleum with the Rev. Cecil Hazen officiating. The family will greet friends on Saturday, August 28, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Mrs. Pierce was born in Clayton, Georgia to the late Clarence and Irene C. Forester. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jimmy Cradle Pierce and Jerry M. Harkness, and her son, Keith Forrest Harkness, and brother, Clarence Forester, Jr. Mrs. Pierce was a graduate of A. L. Miller Girls High School. She was retired after thirty-two years of service from the Coliseum Medical Center as a nursing assistant in the new born nursery and a member of Park Memorial United Methodist Church. Mrs. Pierce was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 3, former member of the Moose - Ladies of the Nile, and the Thursday night Ladies Bowling League.
She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony Harkness (Ilene) of Snellville, Jimmy Harkness (Debra) of Macon; five grandchildren, Masten (Emily) Harkness, Mindy (Mikey) Harkness, Miller Harkness of Macon, Matthew Harkness and Patrick Harkness of Snellville; three great grandchildren, Lily Harkness, Colt Fortner and Keeley Harkness; sisters and brother-in-law, Louise (Wade) Gurley and Linda F. Whitehead and several nieces and nephews.
