Betty Byrd Sorrells, 85, of Macon, died Saturday, April 5th, after an extended illness. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Joe McDaniel will officiate. The family will meet friends from 10:00 AM until 10:45AM at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sorrells was born January 19, 1929 in Macon. She was the daughter of the late Herbert Paul Byrd, Sr. and the late Nora Elizabeth Kirksey Byrd. Mrs. Sorrells was a graduate of Miller High School and Georgia Alabama Business College. She retired as secretary to the Headmaster at Tattnall Square Academy in 1994. Mrs. Sorrells was of the Methodist faith. She was preceded in death by her sister, Christine Byrd Koehler and her brother, Herbert Paul Byrd, Jr.
Mrs. Sorrells is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, William Walter Sorrells of Macon, her son, Mark Everett (Rhonda) Sorrells of Decatur, Alabama, and four grandsons, Everett Sorrells, Austin Sorrells, Connor Sorrells and Jordan Sorrells of Decatur, Alabama.
