Carolyn Boyer Garry, 85, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Franklin Etheridge and Mr. Earl Smith will officiate. The family will greet friends beginning at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. They suggest that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon 31210.
Mrs. Garry was born in Macon and had lived in Middle Georgia for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late George V. and Maude Simmons Boyer and was raised by her grandparents, C. H. Simmons and Mattie Arnold Simmons. Mrs. Garry was preceded in death by a husband, Lester E. Wood and a son, Michael Emmett Wood. She was a member of the Order of Amaranth, Past Grand Royal Matron of Amaranth, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she was Grand Secretary for 9 years. Mrs. Garry was a member East Boulevard Baptist Church for 50 years and a former member of Wheeler Heights Baptist Church.
Mrs. Garry is survived by her husband, Charles William Garry of Macon; son, Bobby Wood of Macon; son, George (Rhonda) Wood of Macon; daughter, Diane Wood (Roy) Hall of Macon; 9 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; niece, Delores Boyer Smith of Roberta.
