

Charles A. “Charlie” English, known as “The Guardian of the Rails”, 83, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2012 surrounded by his family. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with entombment in Macon Memorial Park Mausoleum. The Rev. Buddy Cooper will be officiating. The family will meet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the funeral home and asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
Mr. English was born in Powersville, GA to the late Ruben and Lillian English. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo English. Mr. English was a dedicated member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church, a member of the Faithful Friends Sunday School Class, choir and the men’s chorus. He was retired from the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier and from Central Georgia Railroad in communications. Mr. English was a member of the Exchange Club and was an avid golfer and fisherman. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Stephen) Hutto of Macon, three grandchildren, Brittany Poole, Brandon Vince Poole and Conner Hutto all of Macon, his sister, Ruth (Roy) Dent of Powersville, GA and brother, Franklin (Jean) English of Macon, and several nieces and nephews.
