Dorothy Claire Eason, 88, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, August 11, 2015. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery with the Rev. Scott Dickison, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing, Samford University, 800 Lakeshore Drive, Birmingham, AL 35229.
Claire was born in Augusta, Georgia to the late Thomas St. Clair and Thyra Harvey Williams. She is preceded in death by her husband, Homer. Claire earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Wesleyan University in Macon in 1949 and worked for several years in retail fashion. She was a member of Lifegate Church in Omaha, Nebraska, for the past 18 years. A beautiful and gracious person, Claire enjoyed gardening, reading, and traveling.
She is survived by her children, Thyra H. Nelson, Eleanor V. Howell, and Charles S. Eason (Harriet), grandchildren Jonathan and Lydia Eason, and Ami Neder.
