Dorothy "Mama Dot" Jones, 83, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021. Her life will be celebrated on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 2 o'clock, in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home, led by Superintendent Dr. Evans D. Brown, Sr. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock.
Mrs. Jones was born in West Palm Beach, Florida to the late Rev. Julius and Clara Richardson Claddy. She earned a degree in music from Cuyahoga Community College and worked for 15 years with the US Post Office. Mama Dot ultimately retired from RAFB's civil service after 12 years. She was a member of True Faith Church of God in Christ. Mrs. Jones played piano for her father's church in Cleveland, Ohio as a child, and later, for many local Middle Georgia churches and their choirs.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Latasha Hunter-Jones, Kiera Latrice Jones, of Macon, and Latoya Denise Jones of China; true friend, Dorothy M. Brown, of Macon; godson, Elder Nathaniel Jordan, of Lizella; 5 grandchildren, Teryl Inzar, Jr., Sentrail Moye, Lyric Braswell, Musiq Blu` Harris, and Camille Aaliyah Jones; sisters, Carol Sims, Laverne Acevado, brother, Roderick Claddy, all of Riviera Beach, Florida, and sister, Donna Preloznick, of Bratislava, Slovakia; foster children, Janteba Johnson Bentley, Danteba Johnson, and Kendaya Johnson, all of Athens, Georgia; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
