Galen “Dean” Stover, 85, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, August 25, 2016. A celebration of his life will be held Monday, August 29, 2016 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Dr. Richard Kremer officiating. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Vineville Baptist Church, 2591 Vineville Avenue, Macon, 31204.
Dean was born in Maynor, West Virginia to the late Okey R. Stover and Nell Spangler Stover. He had one brother, the late Dwight Stover and one foster sister, Datus Lively (Lee), their late son, Gary Lively and daughter, Karen Lively. Dean served as Corporal in the United States Army from September 1952 to September 1954 on Okido Island, Japan. He attended college at West Virginia Tech and West Virginia University, where he received a degree in Forestry. He married his wife, Violet, and moved to Georgia in 1957 to take a job with Georgia Kraft Company, from where he retired. Dean was an active member at Vineville Baptist Church since 1983. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Violet Booth Stover and daughter, Belinda Stover.
