Gerald "Gerry" Mullins

Gerald “Gerry” D. Mullins, 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 15, 2013. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Vineville Baptist Church with Dr. Tripp Martin officiating. Burial will be private. The family will meet friends from 10:00 a.m. to service time at Vineville Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Macon GA 31201.

Mr. Mullins was born in McRoberts, KY to the late Wade Brooks and Maudie Mosgrove Mullins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lillian Frazier and brother, Ellis Ray (Janet) Mosgrove. He was retired from the United States Air Force after serving twenty six years in the United States Air Force Band. Mr. Mullins was a musician for forty five years with the Macon Civic Club, Macon Little Theater, Macon Symphony, Cherry Blossom Festival and was involved with Relay for Life for eight years. Jerry enjoyed playing taps for Military Funerals and taught at Macon College for several years and gave lessons in his home. He repaired and donated horns to the less fortunate children in the community. Mr. Mullins was a member of Vineville Baptist Church, Will Platts Sunday School Class and the Vineville Brass Ensemble. He was a devoted Christian and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Stearns Mullins of Macon, children; Jeffrey (Rosie) Mullins of Lawrenceville, GA, Jill (Roland) Hogg of Auburn, GA, Tammie (Dan) Leachman of Colorado Springs, CO, Stephen (Libby) Leachman of Colorado Springs, CO, grandchildren; Ryan (Barbara) Mullins, Crissie Hogg, Sophie Hogg, Hannah Leachman, Kaylee Leachman, Stash Jesionowski, great grandchildren; Jeffrey and Chance Mullins, sisters; Ruby (Ben) Profitt, Talulah (Harry) Thompson, Lula (Ted) Cook, Billy (Lucille) Mullins, Janey Stanifer and brother-in-law, Ralph Farmer, sister-in-laws, Margie Harlow and Penny (Mac) McKee and many nieces and nephews.
