8 juin 19301 juin 2021

Hilda Mae Guin Scarborough, 90, went to sleep in Jesus on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, just days before her 91st birthday. She was at home with her husband by her side. A private funeral service will be held for family on Saturday, June 5, 2021.

Hilda was born in Beaverton, Alabama to the late Raymond Murphy and Ola Mae Callan Guin. Her early life was spent in Guin, Alabama, before moving and graduating high school in Milan, Georgia. Hilda worked for BellSouth, taught Bible at Cross Keys Christian Academy, and worked at Cherokee Brick and Tile. She was a talented seamstress, pianist, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman who is rare and hard to find, more precious than jewels. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Yvonne Gay; and grandson Jason Caleb Scarborough.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Rev. Henry Eugene “Gene” Scarborough; daughters, Pamela (Gary) Howell, Deborah (Paul) Gula, Lori (Jeff) Woodward; son, David (Lee) Scarborough; sister, Peggy Wright; brother, Raymond Guin; grandchildren, Brandon (Mandy), Brent (Jamie Lynn) Howell; Steven, Megan, Paul (Heather) Gula; Morgan (Bobby) Dickson; Nathan Woodward; Jonathan, Joseph, Kayleigh, Holly, Joshua, Emily, Jacob, and Brooke Scarborough, and 6 great grandchildren.

I have been privileged to spend the last year getting to know and love Mrs. Hilda Scarborough. I am the fiancé of her grandson, Joseph. When I met Joseph, it was all he could do to get me from North Georgia down to Alabama to meet his family and most importantly, his grandmother. The Covid-19 pandemic was just getting started, but she welcomed me with open arms despite the world going crazy over the virus. I was only blessed with a few visits with her, but I will never forget the words she spoke or the advice she gave to us. In her final days, Joseph's sister, Holly, told her of our engagement and I can just imagine how Holly expressed her eyes were lit with joy. She was a true example of a Proverbs 31 wife, mother, and grandmother. Joseph and I will spend our lives striving to create the marriage she had with her husband, Gene, of 69 years. She will be missed but we will see her again! With our love to the family, Joseph Scarborough (grandson) and Anna Samples.

Sister Hilda has been a dear friend of ours and co-servant of Jesus Christ for many years. She will be sorely missed but she is already in God's own presence. It is we who linger in this shadowy world of sin, sadness, and separation. We rejoice for her life and labor. We will miss her as we know will her family, many friends, and especially her dear husband Gene. We grieve for his loss and send our prayers and love. May God grant you the peace of His grace while you wait for His call at the Rapture of the Church. God's richest blessing. Pastor and Mrs. Kevin S Lucas
