Irene Joiner Craine, 93, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Josh Gale officiating. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Methodist Home for Children and Youth, 304 Pierce Avenue, Macon GA 31204.
Irene was born in Lenox, Georgia to the late Larkin Joiner, Sr. and Irene Ray Joiner. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, Hughie Carlton Craine. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Florence Lovett, Alma Carter, Perry Gandy, Kansas McKinney, Ella Heath, Thelma Gibbs, Larkin Joiner, Jr., and Jessie Joiner. Irene was a homemaker and a former member of Bloomfield United Methodist Church. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt.
She is survived by her children, Beverly (Pat) McConnell, Shelia Maurer, Buddy (Cindy) Craine, grandchildren, Kellie McConnell (Matt Carrigan), Jack (Jessica Wu-McConnell) McConnell, Jake Maurer, Jared (Nur) Maurer, Carl (Sherrie) Craine, and Perry Craine, great grandchildren , Christopher Craine and Andy McConnell, Elaine Robinson, Jeremiah Cherry, and Justin Cherry, great great grandsons, Gio, and Isaiah, sister, Ruth Vickers, and several nieces and nephews.
