

James Durwood Everett, 83, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 surrounded by his family. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Neal Wall and Dr. Aubrey Sheats officiating. The family will meet friends on Thursday, June 6, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon GA 31210 or Bellevue Baptist Church, 5925 Price Road, Macon GA 31220.
Mr. Everett was born in Columbus, GA to the late William Lamar and Leone Tarvin Everett and was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Sutton. Mr. Everett served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a graduate of Mercer University with a degree in Economics. He retired as office manager with Security Life Insurance Company of Georgia and was a devoted member of Bellevue Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Pathfinders Sunday School Class.
Mr. Everett will always be remembered for his devotion to God, country and his family. He had a warm smile, gentle nature and a great sense of humor. He will also be remembered for his off-key serenades and his companion, “Harvey” a six foot invisible Pooka Rabbit.
He was married to the love of his life for 61 years, Doris Sutton Everett of Macon, children; Melinda (Joey) Pittman, Alan (Teresa) Everett and Brian (Lindsay) Everett, grandchildren, Brittainy (Brad) Horne, Brandi Pittman, James Everett, Kristina Siens, Kaitlyn Everett, and Robbie Pittman; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews of the Sutton and Williams family, sister, Sunny (Jimmy) Williams and brother-in-law, Douglas Sutton.
