James Augustus Griffin, 95, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. A Celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Snow’s @ Macon Memorial Park with Reverend Chris Minton officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.
James was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Ralph Waldo Emerson and Mildred Griffin, and was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Atwater, formerly of Atlanta; and great grandson, Carson Griffin. He worked 33 years as a Civilian at Robins Air Force Base, retiring in 1985. He was a 50 year Mason, Scottish Rite and Shriner and member of Lizella Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Christine Griffin; son, Randy Griffin (Betsy) of Macon; grandchildren, Brad Griffin (Christi) of Augusta, GA, Ryan Griffin (Ashley) of Macon, Eric Griffin (Eleanor) of Austin, TX, and Sara Kate Greene (Blake) of Vestavia Hills, AL; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Jeanette Chaffin of Macon, and Juanita Woodward of Stone Mountain, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
