Joe “J.D.” Griffis, 60, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2014. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rabbi Greg Hershberg will officiate and Ben Murray accompany. The family will meet friends from 2:00 p.m. to service time at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Mr. Griffis was born in Waycross, Georgia to the late Charles S. Griffis and Elizabeth F. Griffis. J.D. trained saddlebred horses for over twenty years and his favorite hobby was riding Harley Davidsons. He was a Captain with the Georgia State Patrol, Region 6, in Forsyth, Georgia for 12 years. He was a devoted and loving father, son, brother and uncle.
He is survived by his children; Samie Griffis of Macon, Hannah Griffis of Macon, mother; Elizabeth F. Griffis of Waycross, brothers; Keith (Angie) Griffis of Hobeken, Charles (Carolyn) Griffis of Covington, two nieces; Shane and Kile Griffis and nephew; Jace Griffis.
