Joel Samuel Jenkins

Joel Samuel Jenkins, 60, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 3:00pm in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Pastor Robbie Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00pm until service time at the funeral home.

Joel was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Joseph Samuel Jenkins and Emily Grace Whigham Jenkins and was preceded in death by his brother, Tim Jenkins. He was employed with Georgia Farm Bureau for the past 20 years. Joel attended Day Star Church and enjoyed woodworking, decorating for Christmas and loved playing Santa at several schools in Gray and for the children at church. He was a giving and generous man, always willing to step in and lend a hand.

Joel was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Kathy Jenkins; children, Richard Palancio, Tiffany and John Lewis and Heather Phillips; grandchildren, Kayden and James Lewis and Harleigh Phillips; sister, Paula and Joe Copeland; and nephews, Jacob and Daniel Copeland and Joshua Cowart.
