

John B. Lane, 90, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family. A Celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Noon in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jason Wade officiating. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
John was born in Milledgeville, Georgia to the late Richard Linton and Mary Bloodworth Lane. He was a graduate of Lanier High School and served his country in the United States Navy. He was retired from Georgia Power Company after more than 50 years of service and was a member of the IBEW, where he just received his 60 year pin. John was an avid bowler and was in the Georgia Bowling Hall of Fame. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Sara Reynolds Lane of Macon, daughter, Sharon (Mike) Smallwood of Macon, son, Keith (Dawn) Lane of Conyers, grandchildren, Brandy (Ferrell) Cromer, Michael (Megan) Smallwood, Sims Kendall, Sara Jean Lane, James C. Lane, great grandchildren, Emily Cromer, Katie Cromer, Courtney Cromer, Raeleigh Smallwood, Allie Smallwood, Lucas Wells, Lauren Kendall, Joseph Kendall, brother, Richard B. Lane of Watkinsville, sisters, Sara Flake of Milledgeville, Mary Ellen (Tom) Westbrook of LaGrange and numerous nieces and nephews.
