Georgia. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11:00 at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Derek Langston officiating.
Karen was born on May 2, 1946, in Macon, Georgia to Katharine Jones Nikula and Oliver
August Nikula. Karen lived in Bibb County, Georgia most of her life. She graduated in 1964 from Miller High School for Girls in Macon and received her master's degree in special education from Georgia
College in Milledgeville. Karen had a passion for teaching children and teenagers. She spent
many years doing what she loved in the Bibb County and Clayton County public school
systems. Karen also loved to travel. During her retirement years she was able to travel to Great Britain,
France, and Italy.
Surviving family are nieces and nephews, Nancy Huffman, Lauren Langston, Derek Langston,
Bruce Barrett; a great niece, Antigone Willis; and a great nephew, Bobby Huffman. She was predeceased by her parents and two sisters, Ann Barrett of Forsyth and Ellen Nikula of Holland, Michigan.
