

Kenneth “Ken” Earl Thompson, 76, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Snow’s @ Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Bill Torrance officiating. The family will greet friends from 2:30 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Ken was born in Moultrie, Georgia to the late Charlie Bickerstaff and Pauline Tucker Thompson. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Thompson, two sisters, Clara Goff and Gladys Barlow and his brother, Herschel Thompson. Ken served his country as a Vietnam veteran in the United States Marine Corps. He attended Mt. Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church in Gray and was a former President of West Macon Little League. Ken was the owner of Ken Thompson Construction and enjoyed collecting antique cars. He served as Mayor of Payne City for 8 years and on the City Council there for 8 years. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great father-in-law, brother and uncle.
He is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Joann Mimbs Thompson, children, Cathy (Erik) Nyce, Michelle (Rodney) Benefield, Kelly (Chad) Lossiah, grandchildren, Jonathan (Amber) Meeks, Caroline (Chris) Nyce, Erik (Kelly) Nyce, Jr., Morgan (Dylan) Benefield, Mikayla (Michael) Thomas, Carly Lossiah, and Emma Cate Lossiah, great grandchildren, Piper, Walker, Gracie, Olsen, Thompson and Rory, two brothers, Cecil Thompson and Roy (Gloria) Thompson and numerous nieces and nephews.
