Lola was born above the town pharmacy on Main Street in Fort Valley, Georgia on July 11, 1943, to the late Vernon Thelston Goss, Sr., and Mary Ann Minyard Goss. She was preceded in death by her brother, Johnny Frank Goss, her nephew, Vernon Thelston Goss, III “Little T”, sister-in-law Vicki Van Brock Goss and brother-in-law William Danny King.
She retired from Robins Air Force Base after thirty-five years of service. She was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church and the Journey Sunday School class. She was a former member of Pine Forest Baptist where she and her husband served with the Sunday Morning Bus Ministry for church services after she could no longer fit all the neighborhood children in her station wagon. She served in the children’s ministry for many years. Also, a former member of Mabel White Baptist Church, she started an Angel Tree ministry where she provided Christmas for thousands of children throughout the middle Georgia area. Lola was a devoted Christian and loved doing for others. Her desire was for everyone to have a personal relationship with the Lord. She was the most loving example of what it meant to be a Godly woman who loved Jesus and was bold in her faith.
Lola dedicated 28 years of her life by volunteering with the Kids Yule Love organization, driven by her observation of the need to support families in the Middle Georgia Area with Christmas presents for their children. Her home was always overflowing with children and her pantry was always full. She often welcomed people into her home without question and treated them as family. That was her genuine heart.
She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-two years, Robert Kenneth “Kenny” Williams; daughters, Vicki Williams, Leigh Ann Williams Lee (Greg), and Lori Williams Comeau; grandchildren, Kaleb Lee, Dr. Holden Lee, Graicyn Lee, Tucker Comeau, Maticyn Comeau and Reece Lee. Siblings, Thelston (JoAnn) Goss, Tommy Goss, Gwen (Henry) Arrington, David Goss, Jenice Goss King, sister-in-law Jane Burnham Goss; hundreds of nieces, nephews, and extended family who she deeply loved.
The Williams family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Hospice Care Options and Mrs. Williams with Martha’s Home Care for their exceptional care and support.
