Born in Peoria, Illinois, he was the son of the late Mary Cassini Ryan and James G. Ryan and was preceded in death by a brother, James Patrick Ryan. Mike was a graduate of the University of South Carolina where he received his Bachelor's and Law degree. Mike enjoyed his career as a teacher, having worked in Georgia, Japan, Poland, and Germany and was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his wife, Yukiko U. Ryan; sisters, Kelley Stewart and Judith Graff; and several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at a later date.
