Macon – Martha Ann Cox Simmons, passed away January 31, 2011 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday February 5, 2011 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday February 4, 2011 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Simmons was born in Dodge County to the late William Stephen Cox and Mary Louise Yawn Cox. She was preceded in death by her husband Marion C. Simmons and her daughter Marcia Lilley. She was a member of Second Baptist Church which is now Christ Chapel. Mrs. Simmons was also retired from Coliseum Hospital as a Registered Nurse.
Survivors include her daughters, Vicky (Gil) Irby of Macon and Deborah Oliver of Macon; six grandchildren, Deanna Oliver, Jennifer Farrow, Elissa Cohenour, Justin Irby, Sam Lilley, Spencer Irby; eight great grandchildren; half brother, Warren Cox of Pensacola, FL; sister –in-law, Virginia Simmons; several nieces and nephews also survive.
