Mary Frances Ramey Lipford, age 95, passed away on January 27, 2026. A Celebration of her life will be held Friday, January 30, 2026, at Snow’s @ Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Will Farrington officiating. Family visitation will follow the service. Burial will be in the Ramey family plot at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born in Macon on September 3, 1930, Mary was the first girl in a family of five boys. She was the daughter of Reese Land Ramey and Mary Lee Long Ramey. Both her parents passed away when Mary was a teenager. Her older brothers became her surrogate parents and surrounded her with love for the rest of their lives.
Mary was a proud 1949 graduate of A. L. Miller High School in Macon. She enjoyed Miller reunions with school friends for decades. After her children grew up Mary worked at Service Merchandise in Macon in a variety of roles until retirement.
She was well known in the family as a very loving Mom and cook. She carpooled children to school and ran a family shuttle service to meet her children’s interests and needs. Friends and cousins were always welcome in the Lipford home for games and sleepovers. She worked magic with a simple Chef Boyrdee pizza box mix. The mix might read that it was for two pizzas, but Mary stretched it to make four pizzas. These pizzas were a favorite of her children and their friends.
Mary is survived by her five children Georgette Lipford, Sherrill Bonner, D. George Lipford (Paula), Gayle Cofer (Todd) and Edward Lipford. Additionally, she is survived by eight grandchildren: Matt Lipford, Will Bonner, Heather Mixter, Danielle West, Dominic Mazza, Dalton Cofer, Ben Lipford, Daniel Lipford and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her older brothers David Ramey, Leslie Ramey, Lyndon Ramey, Marion Ramey and Heyward Ramey.
The family would like to thank Georgia Hospice nurses and support staff for all the wonderful care and compassion they provided to Mrs. Lipford for the past three years with a special thanks to Rena, Leigh and Barry. The family also thanks the staff of Warner Robins Rehab and Nursing Care for the attention and care they provided to Mrs. Lipford.
