Richard Earl Dowdell

Richard Earl Dowdell of Macon passed away October 12, 2021 at the age of 67. Richard was born in Valparaiso, Indiana, and graduated from Indiana University in 1981 as a Doctor of Optometry. He served in the Air Force from 1986-1991 and moved his family to Warner Robins before eventually settling in the Macon area. Richard served the Middle Georgia area for over 30 years as an Optometrist, and in that time he was better known as a loving husband, patient father, and loyal friend.

Richard is preceded in death by his father Richard Oliver Dowdell, mother Eva Rennetta Dowdell, and sister Kay Lynn Omo.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan Anne Dowdell (Clark) of Macon. Siblings: Margaret Tompos (David) of Nappanee, IN, Kenneth Dowdell (Terri) of Cedar Park, TX. He was father to 4 children: Brittany Rathel (Matthew) of Cumming, Richard Dowdell (Brittany Jordan) of Girdwood, AK, Nicole Harris (Ambrose) of Byron, and Chad Dowdell (Brooke Denney) of Macon. Grandchildren include: Zoey Harris, Isabella Dowdell, Levi Dowdell, Evelyn Dowdell, and Madeleine Rathel.
