Richard Harper, fondly known as Ricky, was born on August 9, 1960, and passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, at the age of 65. A lifelong resident of Macon, Georgia, Ricky was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. He proudly embraced his Baptist faith, having been baptized during his teenage years.
Ricky dedicated his life to helping others, working for the railroad and also serving the city of Macon as a sanitation truck driver. With a big heart for dogs, he enjoyed feeding the birds around his home. Ricky delighted in spoiling his great-nieces and great-nephews with candies and treats whenever they visited.
His commitment to the community was evident during the 1994 flood, when he helped distribute water and food in the hardest-hit areas of Macon. He also contributed during significant snowstorms, earning recognition for his dedication. Ricky’s generosity extended to fostering a teen for a time and lending a hand to his brother with church work whenever needed.
He is survived by his loving mother, Peggy Harper; his brother, Calvin Thomas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William Harper; his siblings, Irvin and Connie Harper; and his beloved dog, Ginger.
A celebration of Ricky’s life will be held at Snow’s at Macon Memorial on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 3:00 PM. Friends are welcome to greet the family starting at 2:00 PM.
