

Roy Rogers, 75, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 2P.M., Friday in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. C. Michael Blizzard will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday at the funeral home and ask that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church, 5399 Hartley Bridge Road, Macon 31216 in his memory. Mr. Rogers, son of the late George and Ophelia Brewer Rogers, was born in Oconee County, SC and served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who owned and operated Roy Rogers Construction Company for forty-seven years. Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his sisters, Edith NeSmith, Pauline McCall and Ressie Wilson, and by his brothers, Derril Rogers, Grady Rogers, Cecil Rogers and Dudley Rogers.
He is survived by those he loved most, his family.his wife, with whom he celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on February 16th, Patricia Ryals Rogers of Byron; his daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda Rogers and Andrew ("Andy") Strickland of Locust Grove; his beloved grandchildren, Dylan Strickland, D. J. Strickland, Dalton Strickland and Bryana Strickland, all of Locust Grove, and several nieces and nephews.
